“Y” é um
trabalho produzido a partir do contato com a língua espanhola e a presença
da letra L nesse idioma, sobretudo do dígrafo LL (doble ele). A
sonoridade específica do espanhol rioplatense, presente em boa parte da
Argentina, é distinta de outros países hispanohablantes e produz um som
nesse encontro de letras que assemelha-se ao SHHH no português. Esse
fenômeno é chamado de yeísmo heilado e tem como origem apontada por
algumas teorias o contato do espanhol com o português, da mesma forma
que com outros idiomas como o galego, o francês e o italiano a partir
das migrações nos séculos XIX e XX.
No vídeo algumas letras L
boiam ao longo do curso do Rio Santa Rosa, que cercava o local da
residência, relacionando de algum modo a sonoridade da água a esse
fenômeno. O título da obra se relaciona ainda com a não diferenciação
nas pronúncias de Y e LL a partir dessa variação idiomática. A letra Y
também carrega em sua morfolofia tipográfica a junção de dois vetores em
um, rememorando a confluência de dois cursos de água para um mesmo
fluxo.
As letras desenhadas de modo cursivo assemelham-se também
a formas de peixes, abrindo outras interpretações para o trabalho.
Desse modo, “Y” é um vídeo que coloca em dinâmica linguagem, sonoridade,
migração, paisagem e contatos idiomáticos, pensando o rio como página,
local de encontro e atravessamento de territórios poéticos e
linguísticos.
"Y" is a work produced from contact with the Spanish language and the presence of the letter L in that language, especially the digraph LL. The specific sound of Rio de la Plata Spanish, present in much of Argentina, is distinct from that of other Spanish-speaking countries and produces a sound in this combination of letters that resembles the SHHH in Portuguese. This phenomenon is called "yeísmo heilado" and its origin, according to some theories, is the contact between Spanish and Portuguese, similar to that of other languages such as Galician, French, and Italian, resulting from migrations in the 19th and 20th centuries.
In the video, some letters L float along the Santa Rosa River, which surrounded the residence, somehow linking the sound of the water to this phenomenon. The title of the work also relates to the lack of differentiation in the pronunciation of Y and LL based on this idiomatic variation. The letter Y also carries in its typographic morphology the union of two vectors into one, recalling the confluence of two waterways into a single flow.
The cursive letters also resemble the shapes of fish, opening up new interpretations for the work.
